I’ve been a solo designer at autone for the majority of the past 12 months, and alongside my general solo design experience at previous clients. I’ve learnt to implement some helpful habits & rituals specifically to gather inspiration, which has improved my sharpness & overall quality.

This comes from an underlying belief that you should copy more of what’s out there already, that come up with new things yourself.

Rituals can feel like a big deal that requires thought to setup, but really it's just a small habit to make you or your team a bit better every time you do it.

So rather than create a big deal out of it, here are 5 different rituals you can setup that are little to no effort, but come with plenty of upside.

Ask AI to keep you up with trends in your industry

I’ve been asking Perplexity and ChatGPT — now that they access to web — what the latest trends are in the UX space.

It bring out a neat list of different things that have been happening, and links to read more about them. I ask for things around research, latest products and differences across the world, to keep my inspiration pool heavy.
